Manage to spend nearly an entire day “overwhelmed” by Nelson-Atkins Museum.
A very traditional “museum” building, its high-ceiling, expansive galleries allow art of all sizes to sprawl comfortably. A light (in multiple senses of the word) lunch in their “cafeteria” provides a delightful choreography as diners glide between a massive central fountain and their tables.
Late afternoon and early evening brightness allow an easy drive up to Des Moines/IA. (Realize, at this point, am entering my “manic” mode!!)
hi Carl! I am so very behind on your travelin’ blues, but am finally getting a quiet moment alone on a Sunday morn -6:30-to catch up a bit on your lovely visits and travels. re: Kansas City, MO Nelson-Atins museum, what a gorgeous plaza/cafeteria area! wow, just made me smile thinking how sweet it would for visiting, reading, maybe even music (not sure how the acoustics would ring there?). Mostly glad you are having such a great trip and relaxing! well deserved for sure. warm hugs from SF! ; ) Antoinette S.
